A Guide to the Texas Common Schools Oral History Collection, 1920s-1985
The Texas Common Schools Oral History Collection, 1920s-1985, contains materials produced by the Texas Common Schools Project of the School of Education at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as work by other scholars. The collection consists mostly of the oral histories of the experiences of rural, one-room, ungraded schoolteachers, especially in Caldwell County, Texas. This collection is referred to in the preface of Sitton & Rowold's Ringing the Children In: Texas Country Schools (1987) because it is the source on which the book was based.
This collection is open for research use.
Use of audio material by appointment only; please contact sound archivist for more information.
