Biographical Note

Spanish and Education Professor Mildred Vinson Boyer taught at the University of Texas at Austin from 1959 until 1986. She created a bibliography, The Texas Collection of Comedias Sueltas (1978), describing the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center's collection of Spanish dramatic literature in suelta form. Other publications included Bilingual Schooling in the United States: History, Rationale, Implications and Planning (1976), with Theodore Andersson, and translations, including Jorge Luis Borges' Dreamtigers (1964), and a poetry collection, View Points (2013).

Boyer, a Tennessee native, attended Baylor University and was an Institute of International Education Scholar in Cuba. She subsequently taught at Baylor, the University of Illinois, and the University of Arkansas before joining the University of Texas faculty.

The Mildred V. Boyer Papers (1895-2015) are comprised of the correspondence, photographs, scholarly works, poetry, and manuscripts of the University of Texas professor of Spanish and Education. The collection also includes personal papers and photographs of Theodore Andersson, as well as Boyer's personal items, including diaries, homestead records, religious items, scrapbooks with travel photographs, and letters of appreciation from colleges.
