Biographical Note

Max Sherman was born in Vilola, Arkansas in 1935. He completed a Bachelor’s degree at Baylor University and received his JD from the University of Texas Law School in 1960. Sherman served as a Senator in the Texas State Legislature from 1971-1977, leaving in 1977 to become president West Texas State University. Sherman then served as the Dean of the LBJ School from 1983 until his retirement in 1997.
