Biographical Note

Hailing from Beaumont, Texas, Henry Wallace Stopher III, aka Wali Stopher, relocated to Austin and became a fixture of the sixties music scene, befriending Janis Joplin, and playing in the band Conqueroo. Stopher is also a songwriter, and the proprietor of the music company Wali of Austin. He’s run for both mayor and city council, and was the model for the lanky caricature of Oat Willie, who is the mascot for Oat Willie’s Tobacco Shop.
