Historical Note

Ladd and Amory was a cotton buying company in Galveston, Texas, providing cotton for some of New England's leading cotton mills.


Scope and Contents

Single bound volume with each page consisting of a separate bill of lading for a ship lying in port in Galveston, Texas. Each bill of lading including the name of the vessel, the vessel's master, the destination, and the cargo, which was in every case cotton. Poetic verse handwritten in script can be found on the reverse of several pages.
