Biographical/Historical Note

Established in 1983 by Richard Garriott, ORIGIN Systems developed and published primarily role-playing games intended for computer platforms. While the company produced many titles, it is most known for its Ultima and Wing Commander franchises, each of which included several successful titles. In 1992, Electronic Arts acquired ORIGIN and its assets, and soon established Ultima Online as one of the first successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Electronic Arts closed the ORIGIN studio in 2004, and relocated any physical assets and records to Mythic Entertainment, another Electronic Arts studio.
