Biographical Note

Heinrich and Annie Thea Lamm, a German-Jewish couple, came to United States in June 1937. Heinrich was born in Munich on January 1908, and Annie was born in Breslau as Annie Hirschel, on August 1907. In October 1938, they moved to South Texas from Kansas City, Missouri, where Heinrich opened a practice of medicine and surgery in La Feria, Texas. His wife Annie, an obstetrician and anesthetist, joined the practice on January 1940. They moved to Harlingen in 1957, where they lived until their death in 1974 and 1976.


Scope and Contents

The Lamm Family Papers, 1907-2013, gather Heinrich and Annie Lamm’ student and internship records from Germany, diplomas and validations, immigration papers, personal letters, some translations from German into English, published articles and correspondence regarding restitution after WWII.

The collection also includes some documents belonging to Ignaz Lamm, Heinrich’s father, including a letter and printed record book with manuscript entries inscribed in German with the genealogy of his family between 1801 and 1944, with the latest entry made at Harlingen, Texas. Attached newspaper clipping and printed mourning card relate to the death of Martha Pinczower Lamm, September 6, 1931, at Munich.
