Biographical Note

Clifford Pennington Chapman attended the second camp at Camp Stanley, Texas, where he received a commission as a First Lieutenant. Later, due to the fact that he was able to prove he was a college graduate, he was integrated into the Regular Army, and spent the next 34 years in service. He played polo on various Army teams. When World War II started Colonel Chapman was an instructor at the Infantry School, Ft. Benning, Georgia. In 1943 he joined the 95th Infantry Division. After a year of training, the Division went first to England and then to France. Colonel Chapman retired from the Army in 1952.
