Abstract: The Susan Antone Photographic Archive consists of 25 photographic prints of blues musicians ranging in date from 1982 to 2008 printed for an exhibit, “Rhythm,” installed at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport in 2009. Musicians featured in the archive include Junior Wells, Albert Collins, Jimmie Vaughn, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dr. John, Marcia Ball, Etta James, Buddy Guy and Pinetop Perkins. Additionally included are an introductory exhibit panel and six posters related to the exhibit.

Biographical Note

Susan Antone is the managing owner of Antone’s, a legendary Austin live blues music venue opened by her brother, Clifford Antone. Antone began photographing musicians at the club soon after its opening in 1975, documenting musicians including Pinetop Perkins, B. B. King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Memphis Slim, Jimmy Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Muddy Waters. Publications of her photographs include Antone’s: The First Ten Years (1985) and Picture the Blues (1986).
