A Guide to the Francois Pierre Giraud Family Papers
Francois P. Giraud (1818-1877) was an engineer, architect, and mayor of San Antonio, Texas. He and his wife Polinaria had five sons, one of whom, Eugene A. Giraud (1858-1921), is represented in the papers. Also found in the papers is Francois’ nephew James Richard Marmion (1861-1935), who was a close friend of Eugene.
Includes Francois Giraud’s appointment as County Surveyor, signed by Sam Houston in 1860. Also various official French documents, petitions, legal documents, correspondence, and carte-de-visite photos (ca. 1870s).
