Biographical Note

Francois P. Giraud (1818-1877) was an engineer, architect, and mayor of San Antonio, Texas. He and his wife Polinaria had five sons, one of whom, Eugene A. Giraud (1858-1921), is represented in the papers. Also found in the papers is Francois’ nephew James Richard Marmion (1861-1935), who was a close friend of Eugene.
