Scope and Contents

The collection contains select theses and senior papers of notable University of Texas bachelor’s and master’s students from 1886 to 1926. Papers include the handwritten master’s theses of anthropologist James Edwin Pearce (1895), physicist George Washington Pierce (1894), physician Goodall Harrison Wooten (1892), and his brother, UT regent Joe Sil Wooten (1892). Also includes papers written by Mignonette Carrington, the first woman to receive a graduate degree at UT, as well as future vice president of the university John Alton Burdine and future UT history professor Lester G. Bugbee.
