			<head>Historical Note</head>
			<p>The National Wildflower Research Center was founded in 1982 by former first lady Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes to promote the conservation and study of native Texan flora.  In 1997, the Center was renamed the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and in 2006 it became a part of the University of Texas at Austin under the College of Natural Sciences and the School of Architecture as an Organized Research Unit.</p>
