G. Alfred Sargent was a soldier in the Bugler Troop L, 1st Regiment, Rhode Island Cavalry and the New Hampshire Battalion Cavalry.
Correspondence comprises the G. Alfred Sargent papers, 1861-1865, documenting daily activities at military camps in Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington. All letters are written by Sargent to his parents, and include topics such as weather conditions, social life, clothing and food costs, and battle descriptions.
