A Guide to the Betty Smith Mallory Collection, 1908-1924
Betty Smith Mallory’s ancestors moved from Alabama and Georgia to East Texas in the early 1900s. Maintaining the family tradition of sacred harp singing, the Smith family holds annual concerts, while also participating in the Mt. Zion Sacred Harp Singing Convention in Mt. Zion, Texas.
Comprising scanned images of documents concerning the Mt. Zion Sacred Harp Singing Convention, the Betty Smith Mallory Collection, 1908-1924, chronicles the Smith family’s involvement in sacred harp singing. The documents consist of meeting minutes and lists of members and attendees at the singing convention.
