Ernest William Winkler (1875-1960) was a librarian and bibliographer. He was state librarian of Texas in 1906, and from 1909 to 1915. He became librarian of the University of Texas in 1923. He compiled and edited the Check List of Texas Imprints.
Correspondence, financial records, newspaper clippings, photographs, diaries, maps, printed material, notes, and literary productions document the career of Ernest William Winkler, librarian and bibliographer, including the compilation of Check List of Texas Imprints and his interest in the history of Germans in Texas.
This collection is open for research use.
