Biographical Note

Born in San Antonio in 1930, Mary Carolyn Hollers George received her bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College in 1951, and a master’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. She taught courses covering both the history of art and art appreciation at San Antonio College, and published several books on architectural history in Texas and Mexico.

Scope and Contents

The Mary Carolyn Hollers George Papers, 1996, consists of a draft of “The Anglo-Texan Society, 1953-1979: A Cross-Cultural Alliance” as well as photographs. Written by Mary Carolyn Hollers George, the paper discusses the history of the Anglo-Texan Society, an organization based in London, which aimed to foster friendly relations between the two realms as well as support Texans in Britain between 1953 and 1979. Photographs document the Texas Legation plaque in London, unidentified persons, and a Texas-themed drawing.
