Biographical NoteThe Samuel T. and Fern Yanagisawa Regents Professor of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin, J. Craig Wheeler earned his B. S. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965 and a doctorate from the University of Colorado in 1969. In 1974, Wheeler began working at UT, publishing around 200 papers in academic journals and conference proceedings as well as serving as president of the American Astronomical Society from 2006 to 2008.
