A Guide to the UT ROTC Time Capsule, 1957
Historical NoteThe UT ROTC Time Capsule was placed in a cornerstone of the Steindam Hall, the ROTC building, during its construction in 1957. The capsule was recovered after the destruction of the building in 2010-2011. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsComposed of a copper box, a manual, a history of the Naval ROTC, photographs, a letter, a roster as well as a yearbook, the UT ROTC Time Capsule, 1957, documents the history of the UT Reserve Officer Training Corps in the 1940s and 1950s. The 1957 manual details the skills and techniques required of cadets, while the roster and yearbook chronicle members of the corps in 1957. A history of the Naval ROTC relates the history of the organization between 1940 and 1956. Photographs depict officers of the Corps as well as cadets at the time of the capsule, while the letter is from the Board of Regents approving the construction of the building.
