Born to Tom Hart and Elizabeth O’Leary in Ballymoney, Wexford County, Ireland, Rosalie Bridget Hart Priour (1825-1903) immigrated with her family to the United States in 1834. Following her father’s death upon their arrival, Rosalie and her widowed mother settled in Refugio, Texas. During the Texas Revolution, she and her family fled to Mobile, Alabama, where in 1844 Rosalie married Jean Marie Priour, with whom she had ten children. After the Mexican War, she and her husband and mother relocated to Corpus Christi, where they managed a mercantile business.

A bound typescript composes the Rosalie Bridget Hart Priour Reminiscences, [ca. 1867], chronicling Priour’s experiences emigrating from Ireland and settling in Texas during antebellum period. The reminiscences discuss social conditions in South Texas, the Texas Revolution, life in the Texas Republic, the Civil War, and her family history.
