Biographical Note

William A. Philpott, Jr., served as secretary of the Texas Bankers Association from 1915 through 1964. In addition to his professional endeavors, Philpott collected Texana, including the letters of Texas revolutionaries and Civil War soldiers over a fifty-year period. By the 1980s, he had amassed nearly 900 items, most of which were sold at an auction in Dallas, Texas, in 1986.
