Biographical Note

Methodist minister Dow Perry (1805-1882) was born in Oglethorpe Georgia. He married Taibtha Tilman Turner Hunt and moved to Alabama. There they had 12 children, one whom, Wilbur Fisk Perry, immigrated to Erath County, Texas.


Scope and Contents

Composed of correspondence, the Dow Perry Papers, 1858-1910, chronicle familial affairs of the Perry family. The bulk of the correspondence is between Dow Perry and his son Wilbur Fisk Perry and regards family news, agricultural conditions, crops, and religious sentiments in both Alabama and Texas.
