			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>A member of Captain Nicholas Dawson’s Texas regiment of volunteers, Samuel G. Norvell was captured by the Mexican Army during <emph render="doublequote">Dawson’s Massacre</emph> and incarcerated in Mexico. In 1843, he was pardoned and released from prison.</p>
