			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>Born August 24, 1868, Claudia Wilbarger married Lipscomb Norvell in 1896, and they settled in Beaumont, Texas. As member of the Colonel George Moffett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mrs. Norvell served as chairperson as well as regent from 1914 through 1915. She also harbored a strong interest in Texas history, authoring several articles and books, including <emph render="italic">King’s Highway and History</emph> (1918) and <emph render="italic">The Search for the Great Kingdom of the Texas</emph> (1945).</p>

			<p>A bound volume containing printed material, reports, diary excerpt, and a contract composes the Mrs. Lipscomb Norvell Papers, 1818, chronicling her activities as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as her research on Texas history. Printed material consists of the publication <emph render="italic">King’s Highway and History</emph>, while reports relate to the DAR. A copy of a diary excerpt of Juan Agustin Morfi describes an expedition to Texas in the late 18th century and a contract concerns the survey of and erection of granite monuments along King’s highway (also known as the Old San Antonio Road).</p>
