Scope and Contents

Composed of typescripts and Photostats of correspondence, historical and genealogical notes, by-laws, minutes, and a grade book, the New Braunfels (Texas) Papers, 1815-1951, chronicle the founding and early history of the city. The letters discuss the marriage and life of Prince Carl and Princess Sophia in the mid-19th century as well as the history of New Braunfels, while rosters of a German anti-emigration group and the German Protestant church in 1845 document members. Additionally, a Photostat of Pastor Schuchardt’s family book and an index of family registers relate to the early families of New Braunfels and grade books relate to 19th century schooling in the town.
