Biographical NoteIn addition to his publication Spread of the Spanish Horse to the Indians (1952), Historian W. Lamar Moore authored "Cattle Brands for Western States" (1942) and "Texas Cattle Brands with Historical Sketches" (1943). Scope and ContentsFour typescripts compose of the Lamar Moore Catalog, 1942-1943, documenting Moore’s research on cattle branding in Texas and the Southwest in the 19th century. Two copies of "Texas Cattle Brands with Historical Sketches," concern the cattle industry in Texas and include diagrams of cattle brands, while two copies of "Cattle Brands for Western States" contains a list of ranchers and their livestock during the 19th century.
