Biographical Note

The son of Wiley Jones, Travis Fleming Jones (1850-1932) was raised near Waco, Texas. During the Civil War, Jones worked as a horse driver with his father and made cattle drives to Kansas. Following his work as telegraph operator and a city ticket agent for the Cotton Belt, he founded several cattle ranches in Texas as well as in New Mexico and Arizona. Jones moved to San Antonio in 1910, becoming involved in the Trail Drivers Association and the real estate business.
