			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>The Johnson family emigrated from Germany to the United States, where they settled in the vicinity of Austin, Texas. Descendants of the family include Emil Johnson, Jonathan O. Johnson, who served as city clerk in Austin in the early 20th century, and Marie Kuhn Johnson, who attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.</p>

			<p>Composed of account books, notebooks, legal records, yearbooks, ephemera, and photographs, the Marie Kuhn Johnson Collection, 1890-1933, documents the activities of the Johnson family in Austin and Round Rock, Texas. Account books of J. J. Kuhn and Emil Johnson record financial transactions, while notebooks contain poetry in German and homework notes. Legal documents include a city ordinance regulating the operation of motor vehicles, and yearbooks for the city of Round Rock and the Southwest Texas Normal School (Texas State University) pertain to civic and educational affairs, and ephemera consists of a picture of Woodrow Wilson, a greeting card, and a list of Austin High School teachers, among other items. Additionally, photographs depict members of the Kuhn and Johnson families, houses, school buildings, cemeteries, and churches in Texas.</p>
