			<p>A resident of Greene County, Alabama, Brewster H. Jayne (1789-1842) married Juliet Brown (1809-1888) in 1828. The couple moved to Lawrence County, Mississippi, before settling in Austin, Texas, around 1840.</p>

The letter discusses their plans to move to Texas as well as life in the Republic, relations with Native Americans, and the landscape of southeastern Texas. Additionally, the letter mentions purchasing land in Juliet’s name.</p>
