Biographical Note
Businessman and merchant Engelbert Heiligenthal (1894-1965) owned a firm in Bremen, Germany, as well as several offices in the United States, including in Dallas, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Memphis, Tennessee. He specialized in importing cotton from the United States to Germany.

Correspondence, financial documents, and ledgers compose the Engelbert Heiligenthal Business Records, 1922-1932, chronicling Heiligenthal’s business activities. Correspondence concerns accounts in his offices in the United States and business affairs with cotton merchants in Texas. Financial documents and two ledgers pertain to Heiligenthal’s accounts and the Bremen Cotton Exchange (Bremer Baumwollbörse) as well as records of transactions with various agents.
