			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>The son of J. Henry S. Haupt, Sebastian Haupt (1781-1835) lived with his wife Matilda Brewster in Greene County, Alabama, where they raised their three children: Lewis, Nancy Ann, and William Walton. Haupt engaged in mercantile activities and also owned land in Jackson County, Alabama. Around 1849, his son William Walton moved to Bastrop County, Texas, where he worked as a rancher and became a captain in the Texas Militia.</p>
