				States. Goodknight briefly discusses the Elam civilization in the ancient Near East
				before moving on to her ancestors surnamed Elam who emigrated from the United
				Kingdom to the United States in the 1700s. Her genealogy continues the family tree
				through to 1930 while focusing on the members of the tree in the American South and
				Dallas County, Texas.</abstract>

			<p>Born to Dr. George Thompson and Martha Jane (Elam) Prewitt in Kleberg, Texas, Amelia
				Lillian Estelle Prewitt (1887-1972) married Clifton Shealey Goodknight in 1908.
				Three years later, the couple moved to Hawaii, where Lillian studied at the College
				of Hawaii, now the University of Hawai’i at M&#x101;noa.</p>
