A Guide to the Stanley Faye Narratives, 1943
Biographical NoteBorn in Aurora, Illinois, Stanley K. Faye (1886-1949) was the son of Amine Knickerbocker and Charles Montrose Faye. Like his father, who was the first editor for the Aurora Daily News and served as the managing editor for The Chicago Daily News, Faye also pursued a career as in newspaper journalism. After attending the University of Chicago, he worked first as a reporter for The Chicago Journal and as the music critic for The Chicago Daily News. In 1947, Faye became the historical editor for The Aurora Beacon-News, though his failing eyesight forced him to retire shortly after. In addition, he was a member of various historical societies in Illinois, Louisiana, Florida, and Arkansas while also authoring several articles on privateers of the Gulf of Mexico which were published in the Louisiana Historical Quarterly as well as an unpublished fictional short story on pirate Jean Laffite and a biographical sketch of pirate Louis Michel Aury.
