Biographical Note

Herbert Rook Edwards (1894-1984) earned his M. A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1916. Two years later, he married Margaret Royalty (1895-1969), later the 13th Poet Laureate of Texas. The couple had one son and operated the Royalty family ranch near Gatesville. An historian, Edwards researched diplomatic policies of the Republic of Texas and the history of the Grange in Texas.
