				research on the Grange in Texas. The collection covers the history of the Texas
				Grange and local affiliates from its beginning in 1873 through the mid-1890s,
				including its policies on railroads and immigration as well as the member farmers’
				education and financial situations.</abstract>

			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>Herbert Rook Edwards (1894-1984) earned his M. A. degree from the University of Texas
				at Austin in 1916. Two years later, he married Margaret Royalty (1895-1969), later
				the 13th Poet Laureate of Texas. The couple had one son and operated the Royalty
				family ranch near Gatesville. An historian, Edwards researched diplomatic policies
				of the Republic of Texas and the history of the Grange in Texas.</p>
