Biographical Note

Western author and artist W. Herbert “Buck” Dunton (1878-1936) was born in Augusta, Maine and studied at the Cowles Art School in Boston, Massachusetts. Known for his paintings of Native Americans and the American Southwest, he joined the Taos art colony in Taos, New Mexico in 1912 and was a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists.
