				the Edward Richardson Crockett Diary, 1864-1865, undated, documents Crockett’s
				Confederate service in Company F of Hood’s Brigade during the Civil War. The journal
				primarily describes the activities of Hood’s Brigade and the battles of Cold Harbor,
				Spotsylvania Court House, and the Wilderness. The diary also contains a muster roll
				for Company F, poems by Crockett, an ordinance report for April 1864, and a missive
				to his wife about letters he received. Furthermore, a brief, undated biography about
				Crockett by Fannie Crockett prefaces the diary.</abstract>

			<head>Biographical Note</head>
			<p>Born in Decatur, Alabama, Edward Richardson Crockett (1834-1917) settled in Oso,
				Texas, around 1853 and married Agnes Mercer, with whom he had three children. During
				the Civil War, he enlisted in Company F, Fourth Texas Infantry, Hood’s Brigade of
				the Confederate Army, rising to the rank of captain. Wounded seven times and
				imprisoned twice, Crockett fought at the battles of Gettysburg, Chickamauga, the
				Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor, among a hundred other engagements.
				Following the war, he operated a farm near Manor and later near Georgetown. </p>
