Historical NoteEstablished in LaGrange, Texas, the Brown, Lane, and Garwood Law Firm included attorneys Hiram Morgan Garwood (1864-1930), Joseph C. Brown, and Jonathan Lane. Brown, who passed the Texas State Bar in 1868, worked on a number of high profile cases, such as the dispute over William Mosby Eastland’s (1806-1843) estate in 1906, which examined the sale of his lands and a slave during the 1850s to repay debts.
