			<p>A graduate of the University of Texas, judge and rancher M. D. Slator lived in Llano, Texas. In addition to the Slator Ranch in Llano, he partially owned ranches in Laredo and Zapata, Texas.</p>

			<head>Scope and Contents</head>
			<p>Comprising correspondence, a journal, financial records, legal documents, and blueprints, the M. D. Slator Papers, 1888-1940, chronicle Slator’s activities as a judge and rancher in Llano, Texas. The journal consists of notes and ruminations pertaining to Slator’s experiences as a student at the University of Texas, while correspondence concerns investments and purchases for the ranch as well as legal issues. The collection also contains financial papers such as tax receipts and legal documents including contracts for land purchases in Laredo and Zapata, Texas, and oil and gas leases. Additionally, blueprints illustrate Slator’s landholdings.</p>
