Historical NoteT. F. Brady established the San Antonio, Texas, insurance agency that would become Sergent, Duncan and Rine in 1873. The firm changed hands several times before the 1920s, when owner Hugh B. Rice added Hilburn P. Rine as a partner. Upon Rice's death, Mrs. Paul O. Sergent bought his share and the agency became Sergent and Rine. Robert Duncan (1911-1992) brought Albany Fire Insurance Company to the agency in 1939 and became a partner in 1945, taking over for an ill Mr. Rine. Sergent, Duncan and Rine operated under this partnership until 1958, when Duncan became sole owner. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1957, Duncan's son Dean joined the business.
