Historical Note

The Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (TCTELA), formerly the Texas Council of Teachers of English (TCTE), is an organization of Texas educators that works to advance literacy among Texas students, share resources for teaching, and provide professional development opportunities for its members. Governed by a board that meets four times annually, TCTELA organizes an annual conference, awards achievements in English education, and lobbies for education- and literacy-related state and national legislation. The organization also publishes English in Texas: A Journal of the Council of Teachers of English as well as Texas Voices, a quarterly newsletter.

Scope and Contents
