Biographical Note

Born in Finland, Kurt Matthew Sager (1953-1998) was the son of Stanley and Shirley Sager. A graduate student in the department of German Studies at Rice University, Sager died shortly before completing his dissertation entitled "Death and the Wisdom of Sólarljód"(1998).

One hundred and one phonograph records comprise the Kurt M. Sager Music Collection, 1939-1978, documenting his interest in American popular music. The collection contains LPs and 78s of contemporary pop and rock and roll albums, including such artists as Laurie Anderson, Jeff Beck, Brinsley Schwarz, Black Sabbath, and The Association.
