			<head>Historical Note</head>
			<p>A blues tradition that developed in the early 20th century, Texas barrelhouse blues is characterized by its loud, upbeat, fast-tempo rhythm arising from piano musicians performing in crowded, noisy barrelhouses, bars, or saloons. Also referred to as <emph render="doublequote">boogie-woogie</emph> or <emph render="doublequote">fast Texas blues,</emph> notable barrelhouse blues musicians include Alex Moore (1899-1989), Lavada Durst (1913-1995), and Roosevelt T. <emph render="doublequote">Grey Ghost</emph> Williams (1903-1996).</p>
