A Guide to the John L. Morley Papers, 1917-1943

Biographical Note

John Livingstone Morley served as head of the Southwestern Vocational School in Dallas, Texas. In November 1922, he married Mary Katherine McCallum, daughter of Jane Legette (Yelvington) and Arthur Newell McCallum, in Austin. During World War II, Morley served in Germany as Lieutenant Colonel in the Second Battalion of the U. S. Army's 36th Infantry Division.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, financial records, legal documents, pamphlets, brochures, booklets, directories, cards, periodicals, and travel guides, compose the John L. Morley Papers, 1917-1943, documenting Morley's life and career in education. The collection relates to Morley's business and financial activities as head of the Southwestern Vocational School in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, the papers include some personal correspondence with his mother-in-law, Jane McCallum, suffragist and Texas Secretary of State (1927-1933).
