Raymond Merlin Myers received his bachelor’s and LL.B degrees from the University of Texas in 1915 and 1917. While a student, he served as president of the student body, as the student leader of the marching band, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. During World War I, Myers enrolled in the United States Army and was appointed a lieutenant, serving from 1917 through 1919.
Comprised of two scrapbooks and compact discs, the Raymond M. Myers Papers, undated, chronicle Myers' experiences as a student at the University of Texas and as a soldier serving in the U. S. Army during World War I. The UT scrapbook includes essays on such topics as Roman history, reminiscences, invitations to events at the university, newspaper clippings on Myers and other topics, grade reports, and photographs of acquaintances. The World War I scrapbook contains newspaper clippings about the war, military orders, and photographs of Myers, fellow soldiers, and acquaintances in Leon Springs, Texas, and Columbus, New Mexico. Additionally, the compact discs include copies of the scrapbooks.
