Historical Note

During the late 1950s, David McMeans was hired from time to time as a freelance cinematographer by the McCann-Erickson advertising agency to shoot film for TV commercials for the Paymaster Feed Company. This company sponsored a farm and ranch television program, which aired regularly over KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas. The film commercials were shot on farms and ranches throughout West and Central Texas. The farms and ranches selected all used Paymaster animal feeds. The farmers and ranchers were featured in the films, which were then used as voice-over commercials during the TV programs.
