A Guide to the Woodmen Circle (Childress, Tex.) Records, 1906-1908
Founded by Joseph Cullen Root in 1891, the Woodmen Circle was a women’s auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World organization until 1895, when it became incorporated as the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle, a fraternal benefit society. On September 4, 1906, the Childress Grove No. 544 Woodmen Circle was founded by a group of women, including Guardian Mrs. T.E. Rush, Magician Mrs. Ed Forbes, Banker Mrs. W. H. Thrasher, and others.

Comprised of a minute book, the Woodmen Circle (Childress, Tex.) Records, 1906-1908, document the proceedings of the Childress Grove No. 544 Woodmen Circle between September 4, 1906, and November 6, 1908. The volume describes minutes of regular and special meetings, activities, membership operations, dues, and lists of officers.
