Biographical Note

A native of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Lucile "Lulu" Crutcher (b. 1852?) married William S. Wall (b. 1824) in the 1870s. The couple moved to Dallas, Texas, and had a daughter, Lucile, who attended school in Tennessee. Active in her community, the elder Lucile was president of the Dallas Central Woman’s Christian Temperance Union.

Scope and Contents

Comprising correspondence, speeches, financial documents, and flora, the Wall Family Papers, 1838-1915, chronicle the Wall family’s activities in Dallas, Corsicana, and other towns in Texas. Correspondence between members of the Wall family and friends, such as Lucile Wall and her mother Mrs. W. S. Wall, in Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee describe social events, visits with family and friends, and the endeavors of Mrs. W. S. Wall as president of the Dallas Central Woman’s Christian Temperance Union. Additionally, the collection includes bills, religious speeches, a family tree, and a sprig of Princess Pine.
