A Guide to the Don Rodgers Bluegrass Music Collection, [ca. 1960s-1980s]
Biographical NoteAustin, Texas, resident Donald H. Rodgers (1933-1990) began privately publishing the monthly Bluegrass Newsletter in April 1977, the first step in the founding of the Central Texas Bluegrass Association. Rodgers was present at its first meeting in October of the same year, during which his newsletter was accepted as the organization's official publication in an arrangement that continued until 1987. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsReel-to-reel, 45 RPM, and 8-track recordings as well as an ID card, map, notebook, and printed material compose the Don Rodgers Bluegrass Music Collection, [ca. 1960s-1980s], which documents American bluegrass and country music. Over 46 reels of audiotape, 22 45 RPM records, and an 8-track tape contain bluegrass and country music, some of it from Texas. The ID card, street map, notebook, and printed material relate to the recordings, Texas music, and the preservation of archival audio.
