Biographical/Historical Note

Ginger Miles is a writer, producer, and editor of radio features, profiles, segments, and documentaries. Her work has appeared on National Public Radio, as well as projects for permanent collections at the Smithsonian and the National Museum of the American Indian. Miles has won awards from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Ohio State University, and the National Federation of Community Broadcasting among others. She received a B.F.A. in theater/broadcasting from Southern Methodist University and a M.A. in communication from Fordham University. She also lectured for two years at both Fordham and the University of Texas at Austin.

Scope and Contents

The Ginger Miles Collection, [ca. 1990s], consists of twenty audiocassettes containing fifty radio programs written and produced by Miles. Programs cover a wide range of issues in the arts, history, and social issues in various formats, such as personal essays, radio dramas, documentaries and dramatic documentaries, and audio art. Programs include “Tex-Syns,” “Old Time Texas,” and “Texas: The Virtual Border,” a documentary on Native Americans and the dramatic documentaries “Women & Men,” and “Love Story in the 1940s.”
