			<p>A native of Rusk, Texas, Thomas J. Lacy served as a Private in Company B of the 3rd Texas Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War. Lacy was stationed in various locations in Texas and Mississippi.</p>

			<p>Comprised of correspondence to family members, the Thomas J. Lacy Letters, 1861-1865, chronicle Lacy’s experiences in the 3rd Texas Cavalry Regiment. The letters describe news received from General Braxton Bragg as well as conditions within encampments near Dallas and Millville, Texas, and Brownsville and Corinth, Mississippi.</p>
